Les Lacs Linear Park

The air is crisp, and the leaves are changing. Texas summer is slowly making its way out to welcome fall. The temperature is just right to grab your running shoes and a light jacket and head outdoors to explore the many trails in Addison. Below are five local favorites to get you offline and outside.

White Rock Creek Trail

Enjoy a nature walk on this trail that meanders alongside White Rock Creek's west bank, with numerous overlooks and views. It is one of the longest and most heavily used trails in North Texas and it is achievable for any skill level. It is very popular with bike riders and is perfect for a Sunday stroll. While you are out, see if you can find the wood carved sculptures along the trail. Feel free to bring your four-legged family member but be sure to keep them on a leash.

 Vitruvian Park

Nestled in Vitruvian Park is a walkway that connects to other greenbelt trails within Addison and adjacent regional trail systems. The trail is primarily used for walking, running, and nature trips. Those looking for a challenge should take the almost 2-mile loop that runs from Vitruvian Park to Brookhaven College.

 
 

Arapaho Trail

Arapaho Park is an outdoor favorite at the southwest corner of Arapaho Road and Addison Road. It has become a premier spot for residents and visitors to see the annual airshow and fireworks during Kaboom Town!. Another feature of the park is the Arapaho Trial, which usually hosts various 5Ks in Addison, such as Wipe Out Kids' Cancer Oktoberfest 5K or the Hot Cake Hustle. Tackle it yourself as you train for the big races next year.

 
Les Lacs Linear Park

The possibilities are endless in Les Lacs Linear Park. Find a trail that is just your speed in more than 11 acres of greenbelt that spans the north side of Beltway Drive between Marsh Lane and Midway Road. The main multi-use trail is almost a mile long with a view of the scenic lake. Other features of the park include two playgrounds, volleyball courts, tennis courts, and an outdoor basketball court.

 
North Addison Park

This hidden Addison gem is a real find for walkers and joggers. The 3.45-acre park features a half-mile, one-way jogging trail that offers a quick way to exercise during a busy week. As you get your heart rate up, take in the artistic arbor or see the beautiful flowers in the pollinator patch.
