What Is Masskrugstemmen?
Masskrugstemmen is a traditional Bavarian strength competition loosely translated as “the lifting of a one-liter stein.”
Competitors must hold a full one-liter Masskrug straight in front of them using one arm. The arm must remain completely extended and parallel to the floor. The goal is simple: keep the stein raised longer than everyone else.
Victory takes more than muscle. With a full Mass weighing approximately five pounds, proper technique, balance and determination can make all the difference.

The Road to the Final Prost
Ten qualifying Masskrugstemmen competitions will be held throughout Addison Oktoberfest. The winner of each competition will earn a place in the championship round on Sunday, September 20, at 3:15 p.m. in the Partyhalle.
The last stein standing in the championship round will take home an incredible Paulaner Prize Package—and some serious Oktoberfest bragging rights.
Know the Rules Before You Raise
