Fall is finally showing up in North Texas, bringing cooler days, golden light, and a pretty good excuse to get outside with your camera roll ready.

From larger-than-life murals and unexpected public art to historic buildings, tree-lined paths, and tucked-away parks, Addison has plenty of backdrops worth a stop. Grab a friend, the family, your four-legged model, or just your phone, and check out a few of our favorite spots for a fall photo in Addison.

Say It Big at the Addison Mural

Addison Mural

If you’re taking pictures in Addison, you might as well spell it out.

The Addison Mural by Texas artist Alli Koch stretches 138 feet along the AMLI Addison property on Quorum Drive. The bold black-and-white mural spells ADDISON in oversized letters filled with hand-drawn illustrations celebrating the community.

It’s an easy stop for a group photo, family shot, or selfie that leaves no question where you spent the day.

Photo tip: Step back to capture several letters, or get closer and pick your favorite section of the mural for a more graphic backdrop.

Find a Quiet Corner at Bosque Park

Bosque Park

Just a few blocks away, Bosque Park feels surprisingly removed from the activity around it.

Tucked between buildings in the Addison Circle District, the small park features mature red cedar and hackberry trees, a walking path, fountain, and plenty of shady spots that make a great natural backdrop.

Look for Aigue-Marine, a glass and steel sculpture by French artist Pascale Pryor, for a little unexpected color and texture in your shot.

Find Your Angle at Blueprints at Addison Circle

Photo Contest - Spring

One of Addison’s most recognizable landmarks also happens to offer plenty of ways to get creative with a camera.

Blueprints at Addison Circle towers over the traffic circle next to Addison Circle Park, with five massive blue “petals” incorporating actual architectural blueprints from Addison buildings, parks, bridges, and other projects.

Walk around it and the view changes completely. Then head into Addison Circle Park for another round of photos among the open lawns, fountains, pergola, and walking paths.

GOlden HOurCatch Golden Hour at Golden Hour

Sometimes the photo opportunity practically names itself.

Located near the water tower at Surveyor Boulevard and Arapaho Road, Golden Hour is a 13-foot gold stainless-steel sculpture created by local artists Russ Connell and Kelsea Lyon. Its name refers to that stretch just after sunrise or before sunset when everything takes on a warmer glow.

You know what to do. Time this stop accordingly.

Find the Gazebo at Winnwood Park

Winwood Gazebo

There’s a reason wedding photographers love this one.

Winnwood Park features a picturesque white gazebo overlooking the pond, along with a bridge, floating fountain, walking trail, and plenty of lush landscaping. As the seasons begin to change, it’s an especially pretty setting for family photos, couples, or anyone looking for a classic outdoor backdrop.

Pro tip: Winnwood Park doesn’t have its own parking lot. Park at the former Addison Finance building at 5350 Belt Line Road and take the short walk over to the park.

Get Two Looks at Vitruvian Park

Vitruvian Park

Can't decide between a natural backdrop and something a little more colorful? You don't have to.

Vitruvian Park offers more than 12 acres of green space surrounding a creek with walking paths, bridges, water views, and plenty of spots to catch the changing light.

While you're exploring, keep an eye out for the colorful mural tucked into Vitruvian. It gives you a completely different look without moving the car.

Photo tip: Save this stop for later in the day. The water, trees, bridges, and late-afternoon light give you plenty to work with.
