Whether food holidays make you want to cheer or groan, there’s one you won’t want to miss coming up, and Addison is ready to make the most of it. Wednesday, May 25 is National Wine Day, and we’ve picked five fabulous places to celebrate the day. If you’re looking for an elegant dinner, a blast from the past, or a clubby lounge feel, you’ll find one with a wine list waiting for you in Addison.

Antonio Ristorante

ristoranteantonio-instagramMake it a date night at Antonio Ristorante in Addison Circle for an intimate dinner with your choice of more than 50 Italian wines by the bottle. The atmosphere is elegant, and wine choices cover a wide range of territory in Italy as well as a variety of price points. From the Chianti Classico Riserva from Castello Di Querceto ($45) to the Santa Margherita, Pinot Grigio ($59) to a Guidalberto Toscana Cabernet Sauvignon /Merlot blend ($105), you’re sure to find a palate pleaser here.

Fine wines and fine food are a combination that can’t be beat, so be sure to peruse the menu here. Classic Italian dishes like linguini with clams, chicken parmesan, or veal marsala pair well with many of the wine selections, or try the daily chef special or seafood catch of the day.

If you’re keeping things light, the antipasto (appetizer) menu is as varied and approachable as the wine list, so a selection of snacks on the table and a few wines by the glass set the stage for an entertaining evening.

Andiamo Italian Grill

A favorite of food and wine lovers in Addison, Andiamo is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Make it a double celebration on National Wine Day, with a memorable dinner of modern and classic Italian dishes.

You can’t go wrong with the house Pinot Grigio, but whether you like red or white, you’ll find a nice selection of California wines as well as some delights from Italy. Wine like this calls for great food, and menu options at Andiamo will also please your palate. You’ll find traditional options with piccata, marsala, and alfredo sauces, or you can venture into Andiamo’s unique options like Tenderloin Cartoccio, or a pork chop with crab meat or Cod Andiamo with roasted cherry tomatoes, zucchini, pesto, and pasta Alfredo.

Wine by the glass is also an option, perfect with a selection of appetizers like flavorful bruschetta, crispy calamari, or a charcuterie board with cheeses, grapes, olives, and prosciutto.

Table 13

Live entertainment is on the menu along with a sizable wine list, so book a table anytime after 6 p.m. to enjoy the unbeatable combination of wine and song at Table 13. There are times when nothing feels more modern than a retro vibe, and everything from the menu to the atmosphere here takes you back to memorable times.table13addison-instagram

Try the Chateaubriand for two and a bottle of Pinot Noir for an excellent pairing. Other tasty blast-from-the-past dishes include lemon caper chicken, which pairs well with the bold Mer Soleil Chardonnay, and salmon meuniere, which goes well with a variety of red and white wines. If Steak Diane calls your name, you can pair it with the Alexander Valley Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon or heighten  the flavor of lamb chops with a bottle of Duckhorn Merlot.

If you prefer a simple evening of wine and music, Table 13 is a great spot for that too, with everything from prosecco and bubbly to a wide selection of domestic whites and reds available by the glass. To celebrate in a really big way, ask to see the Captain’s list of fine wines, and choose a bottle that fits your mood.

Arthur's Steakhouse

If wine makes you want to dance, Arthur’s Steakhouse is the perfect place to celebrate National Wine Day. With over-the-top elegance for fine dining, after-dinner dancing, piano dinner accompaniment, and happy hour, there’s tons to celebrate here. This iconic restaurant opened in Dallas in 1948 and since 2001 has made its home in Addison.

If you like wine with everything, you’ll be in a good place, with choices to complement an elegant dinner of steak or seafood, with a Surf & Turf filet mignon and lobster tail making the best of both worlds. Lunch and happy hour bar food is perfect with your favorite wine and wine on the patio, in the clubby bar or the glittery dining room.

Astoria Caffe & Wine Bar

This cozy spot on Quorum Drive offers a café by day and a wine lounge at night with a neighborliness that’s in play all day. Find a spot on the patio or get comfortable inside and sample their specialties any time of day on National Wine Day.

With several red, white, and port wines available by the glass, it’s the perfect place to sit and sip for a spell. You can keep it light with Electric Sky rosé from France, sip a spritzer, savor some sangria, or order up a Rosy French 75 wine cocktail.

There are more than a hundred wines by the bottle, with old favorites as well as some enchanting varieties to discover. You can travel the world in wine with a German Riesling, Italian Sangiovese, Australian Siraz, Argentinian Malbec, French Bordeaux, or Cabernet Franc and many more wines from around the world.

That’s five fantastic suggestions for celebrating National Wine Day, which is quite a lot, but Addison has so many food and drink choices that a bonus on this list seems natural. The District Wine Bar recently opened and wine enthusiasts will definitely have a reason to celebrate. Follow this very social spot on social media and be the first of your friends to know the inside scope on the newest Addison eatery.

With 25 white and rose wines (nine by the glass) and more than 30 reds (12 by the glass), there’s something to go with whatever you choose from their wide array of food options. Oysters and mussels, outstanding charcuterie and other shareables, burgers, and pizza are all on the menu.

Despite the fact that Addison already has almost two hundred restaurants, we’re always ready to welcome one more, especially when there’s so much wonderful wine.
