MEET THE CHEFS
Yeshenia Gallardo
CFBISD Chef Coordinator
Taste on the Tarmac was born with the guidance of CFBISD Chef Coordinator, Yeshenia Gallardo. The CFBISD Culinary Arts program introduces CTE learners to occupations and educational opportunities related to the planning, directing, or coordinating activities of a food and beverage organization or department. This program of study also explores opportunities to direct and participate in the preparation and cooking of food.
Since its inception, Taste on the Tarmac has expanded its reach to area high school culinary programs for participation. This year, the high school culinary teams from the following programs will compete:
MEET THE BENEFACTOR
Taste on the Tarmac is proud to support the Metrocrest Services Sack Summer Hunger Program. Every $12.22 donated provides a child with food for a week. $110 provides 1 child with food for 9 weeks. Our program is proud to have contributed $10,000 to date.
Metrocrest Services’ Sack Summer Hunger program provides healthy, easy-to-prepare breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children who qualify for free or reduced meals during the school year. During the summer, weekly meal bags with a combination of pantry items and fresh foods are distributed to students’ homes by a dedicated corps of church partners and Metrocrest Services volunteers.
