Restaurants Pull Double Duty by Offering Grocery Items

We all know that grocery shopping during the days of COVID-19 has been kind of hit-or-miss: Some days, you can’t find eggs, and other days, meat is hard to come by. Thankfully, so many of our Addison restaurants are continuing to feed us via takeout and delivery. But some of the restaurants are going even further and selling groceries to their customers. Several restaurants sell items like eggs, meat and fresh produce a la carte, and others sell kits that give you a variety of staples. Here’s some information on where you can find restaurants pulling double duty.

Fogo de Chão

Fogo de Chão is selling fresh produce and ready-to-grill items including a 5 oz. picanha (sirloin) for $4, an 8 oz. filet mignon for $12 and a 6 oz. cold water lobster tail for $16. In addition to the meat and fresh produce, the restaurant is selling a pound of butter for $4, a dozen eggs for $3 and milk and cream (call store for prices). Gather is offering a $60 Survival Quarantine Kit which includes three meal options (meal one- 1 dozen eggs, 1 pound bacon, 1 loaf bread, 1 avocado, meal two- 4 half-pound angus burger patties or marinated chicken breasts, 4 brioche buns, 8 slices cheddar cheese, veggies, meal three- whole marinated chicken, pint rice, baby green beans). Hopdoddy Burger Bar

Grill your own burgers at home, Hopdoddy style! Besides their Quarantined Together Meal Kit, they also have an online pantry that offers the basic burger ingredients and toilet paper! Order online on their website and check their Facebook page for updates.

Ida Claire

Ida Claire, which is known for its Southern hospitality, is selling Social Distancing Kits to help people eat well during this stay-at-home time. One of them, the Grill & Chill Kit, provides an array of groceries to get you through multiple meals at home. For $50, you get 2 whole chickens, 4 Wagyu beef patties, 1 full rack of pork ribs, 4 ears of corn, red potatoes, a pound of butter, 15 eggs, a gallon of milk, and two rolls of paper towels. Jason’s Deli

Jason’s Deli is offering a wide range of meats, bread, dairy products and more. Meats include roast beef ($11.99 per pound), roasted turkey ($7.99 per pound) and chicken salad ($7.99). Breads include sourdough, country white, gluten-free and more, and range in price from $2.99 to $12.99 per loaf. Dairy provisions include a dozen eggs ($2.99), cheddar cheese ($8.99 a pound), and vanilla yogurt ($6.99 for 32 oz). Lazy Dog is offering several meal kits from its kitchen. The Home Essentials kit offers grocery items including 3 pounds of boneless skinless chicken breasts, 15 eggs, a gallon of milk, a loaf of bread, a pound of butter, 2 pounds of rice and more – even three rolls of toilet paper – for just $40.

The fresh grill is offering pantry items for curbside pickup. Choose from a dozen eggs ($2), a pound of rice ($1), 10 pitas ($4.99) and Russet potatoes ($.75 each). Call the restaurant to place an order.

Macklin’s is serving a “heat and eat” menu during the COVID-19 crisis, creating to-go meals that you can follow simple instructions to make at home in less than 30 minutes.
