Grocery Stores Update
Due to COVID-19 precautions, many grocery stores have limited their shopping hours to restock shelves and protect employees. Some stores are offering exclusive hours only for seniors and those vulnerable to infection to shop. Although some supplies are limited, most of these stores carry everything from fresh produce to your favorite frozen treat. Although it currently isn’t offering shopping times exclusively for seniors, an employee gave the tip that the store is slowest between 6am – 8am. Kroger is offering same-day pick-up for $4.95, same-day delivery for $9.95, and free shipping with a $35 minimum.

The store is designating the first hour of opening from 8am – 9am each Wednesday for seniors and vulnerable guests to shop. You can still order online for drive-up pick-up, same-day delivery, and regular delivery.

The store isn’t offering special hours for seniors to shop at this time. Online ordering for pick-up and delivery is still an option through a “contact-less” system. It allows employees to sign for you if you pick-up in person or a delivery option that will drop your groceries at your door.

While not technically in Addison, we know that many Addison residents shop at the Walmart on Montfort Drive. First hour every Tuesday is reserved for seniors. Walmart is encouraging guests to order items online for in-store pickup and delivery. Due to increased demand, pick-up and delivery orders may be delayed.
